Mission Sophia – European sea rescue in the Mediterranean Sea by the German Federal Armed Forces
For the first time since the beginning of the EU mission, a television team was allowed to board a German warship, the `Werra`, when 140 refugees from Africa (Nigeria) were rescued near the Libyan coast.
My cameraman, Silas Koch and I reported exclusively about the rescue at sea of these refugees from North Africa, who were in a completely overcrowded rubber dinghy on their way across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe.
